New handgun laws are coming… The 82nd Texas Legislation will have some possible new handgun laws coming on September 1, 2011. These are great laws that will benefit concealed handgun license holders. The following bills presented are: 1. Carrying concealed handguns on campuses or institutions of higher education. 2. Carrying concealed handguns by members at school board meetings. 3. Prohibiting employers from prohibiting employees to transport and store firearms in their vehicles on company property. 4. Carrying of certain weapons on watercrafts. Bruce grew up in Gatesville, Texas. Throughout his youth, he was an avid firearm enthusiast and a hunter. Once he graduated from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He served in Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Operation Fiery Vigil, Operation Continue Hope, Operation Show Care and Operation More Care. While in the Marines, he had the privilege of learning breakdowns of weapons and firing them. Some of the weapons included the M-16A2, M-203 grenade launcher, M-249 S.A.W.,M-60 Machine Gun, .50 cal machine gun and Mrk-19 automatic 40mm grenade launcher. Once out of the Marines, he moved away from rifles and focused more towards handguns. He decided to get his concealed handgun license for personal protection of himself, his family, his property. He then became a Texas DPS Certified Concealed Handgun Instructor. He is also a member of the Texas Concealed Handgun Instructor's Association, is a National Rifle Association Recruiter and a State of Texas Public Notary. Bruce's concealed carry handgun’s of choice is a Taurus PT 140 Millennium .40 caliber semi auto and a Ruger LCR .38 Special + P revolver.

As of March 1, 2011, the Texas Department of Public Safety Licensing Division will no longer accept fingerprints that are taken by Texas Concealed Handgun Instructors. If a person wishes to attend a CHL class, that person must have their fingerprints digitally taken at a L-1 fingerprinting location for a fee paid by that person.
